This manual is a distinct departure from traditional text books and practical books written in subject of Forensic Medicine. The authors have done an excellent effort to present the basics of subject with important practical implications and applications. Chapters on examination and certification of cases of injury, age estimation, drunkenness and sexual offences are well written keeping the practical problems faced in mind. Inclusion of formats of medical and medico legal certificates is a welcome approach. Autopsy on custodial deaths, examination in cases of anesthetic and surgical deaths, mass disasters, techniques of embalming gives adequate information on these difficult aspects. Concluding chapters on acts and legal provisions related to medical professionals will help doctors to have a better knowledge of law to safeguard their interests.
I would like to congratulate the authors and publishers for their efforts especially to compile and publish so much of useful information in a single book and still maintaining a handy size, readable print, beautiful presentation and above all a reasonable price. Present manual will be of great help not only for forensic experts but will also serve as a handy guide for duty medical officers, general practitioners and interns. Police officers and lawyers can also be benefited by a ready and concise reference to most of the medico legal issues in question.
