During MBBS curriculum a student comes across a number of books explaining the concerned subject in detail but rarely will he find a book giving short, crisp and no nonsense bits of useful information. Currently there are plenty of interesting books in forensic medicine but the present treatise is surely the one with a difference.
The book under review explains the subject in a lucid way, every chapter is flooded with flowcharts, tables, hand drawn diagrams and pictures which undoubtedly are the best means to understand any concept. I was particularly impressed with inclusion of chapters on acts related to medical practice, decompression radiation and altitude sickness, autopsy room hazards and newer techniques in forensic medicine. These topics though of maximum practical significance remain untouched by most of the authors.

Toxicology, considered boring and monotonous by most of the students and even faculty have been presented in a simple and concise way, best part being highlighting of important points in blocks which will certainly be of help for quick overview.

Inclusion of MCQ at the end of every chapter and few more in the supplement with explanations makes it useful for aspiring post graduates. Another feature worth mentioning is the ‘class of art’ Appendix listing ‘must know’ and ‘desirable to know’ areas. It gives a quick rundown of all important topics in the book. Mention of medicolegal questions with the chapters makes it useful even for the medical officers.
I heartily recommend the book to all undergraduates students especially those aspiring for postgraduate entrance examination. It is a wonderful choice to students overburdened with syllabus in MBBS.
