Marriage Intimacy: New Approaches by Gopal Krishna

The book "Marriage Intimacy, New approaches" written by Dr Gopal Krishna has 296 pages, divided into two parts; I & II.

Part I deals with what marriage is and the factors required to achieve a close and lasting relationship in marriage. It highlights the factors that contribute to marriage failures stressing that divorce is not desirable since it is not a solution in itself. The author believes that sexual intimacy, which is illustrated copiously with clinical cases, is the answer to marriage intimacy. He finally advocated for mutual and total emotional involvement for a successful marriage.

Part II deals with the treatment of sexual dysfunctions like impotence and how best to combine love, lust and sex for mutual pleasure. He dealt at length on orgasm in both sexes indicating alternatives in cases of failure and is of the view that sex is the best aphrodisiac.

I found the book well written in a clear and uncomplicated manner with no holds barred. The author was very open with topics, which are generally avoided, poorly dissected and/or misconstrued. Also fascinating are the several repetitions in the book, which instead of becoming boring and irritating further emphasize the author's salient points.

I recommend this book to all married couples especially in places with high divorce rates.

It is a must read for unmarried couples, marriage counselors and human reproductive science experts so that marriage will be the life long pleasurable process it was intended to be.
