The Book "AIDS: What Discoverers of HIV never admitted" is very interesting. It brings in a new perspective evaluating AIDS. The author is projecting the new (and rather revolutionary) idea that HIV is not the cause of AIDS. His evidence is small references collected from here and there and believes Mycobaterium to be the main cause of AIDS.
...I understand, Broxmeyer is trying to achieve a cure for AIDS by trying to kill mycobacteria by a new and novel technique developed by him. He is working in the right direction, and as I said earlier, till he is able to cure AIDS by his new methods, not everyone is going to buy his theory...

He also believes that L forms of bacteria do the damage to CD4 cells.
The information has not been investigated in great detail by Lawrence Broxmeyer to either prove or disprove the role of HIV in AIDs. Still, the feeling does stay in reader's mind about the ambiguity of the role of HIV virus in causing AIDS.
The HIV as per Text Books is known to cause weakness of immune system causing replication of Mycobacterium which commonly infects millions of people world wide.
The immune compromised gets damaged by secondary infection wether from HIV or from malnutrition, Cancer, Renal failure, or infections.
However the converse could be true or both statements could co exist.
One of the great hallmarks of success of controversial theories in the past - be they Darwin's theory of evolution or Einstein's theory of relativity - has been their ability to predict events, or explain hitherto unexplained phenomena. If Broxmeyer could carry forward his argument and predict/explain certain unexplained phenomena associated with AIDS, it would certainly give a great boost to his theory. Till he is able to do that, his theory is bound to be viewed with suspicion. I understand, Broxmeyer is trying to achieve a cure for AIDS by trying to kill mycobacteria by a new and novel technique developed by him. He is working in the right direction, and as I said earlier, till he is able to cure AIDS by his new methods, not everyone is going to buy his theory.
Nevertheless, I do admire Broxmeyer for raising the controversy and make us think, although I must confess, he was not able to convince me. On the scale provided to me, I would rate the book at 6.0
