Case Report

blotches in the lung

This was a case of a thirty-three year old married woman. She had ninety percent epidermal and dermo-epidermal burns. The victim died on the spot. No history or evidence of external or internal injuries was present in the chest. But the lungs showed blotches (dark blackish with a reddish tinge) on the rear (posterior) surface. These blotches could be mistaken for contusions. In this case they were sub-pleural and not due to injuries. Other findings were non-specific. The cause of death was burns. Histopathology examination was not requested.
