The city of Jamnagar has a ship-breaking yard at
Sachana some twenty km. from the town.
There are thick cables from water to the shore
to pull big ships. These cables are pulled by machine
as well as manually. In this particular case three
labourers were pulling the cable along with the
machine. All of a sudden the machine yielded and the
cable became straight and tense. The labourers were
holding the cable and bending over it. Because of
sudden straightening and tightening of the cable two
labourers were thrown away while the third unfortunate
one was decapitated as the cable passed though his
neck.
