Seth Wolfson has the advantage of being a professional for many years before he ventured into writing this book and passing on the wisdom that he has gained of his trade to others interested in this fine-art form of forensic sculpting. This book is not only a complete hands-on manual in the art of forensic sculpting techniques as used by the forensic professionals in crime detection but also a must-have for those in 'FX' professionally and those in sculpting for art sake or hobby. Seth has used to the maximum potential his practical skills & experience perfectly matched with scientific methods & data in arriving at the face of the 'human being' one is so desirous of discovering at the end of the entire exercise. The book is beautifully written taking maximum use of the self-explanatory photographs at each step of the process of reconstruction of the skull. With the help of step-by-step photos he has so easily (and effectively) described the entire process that it seems like a child's play even to a novice! Seth has laid some useful stress on the material used, especially the various types of options available in the market and their advantages & disadvantages while using to make a sculpting. The difference between various types of material is so subtle sometimes that it can either spoil the entire work or make it look very beautiful. Seth has also laid special attention to detailed measurements of tissues while layering the skull with plastiline. As Seth describes, it helps if one is of an artistic bent of mind, it helps to create a human being rather than a mere model out of a skull. Not to mention the secrets of his trade that he has passed onto the readers. It is admirable that Seth has the confidence of 'opening the envelope' at the end of the entire exercise only to find that the person in the photograph in the envelope is the same as that in the sculpting he has made.

The book is also a must-have for those pursuing or thinking of 'Forensic Sculpting' or 'Forensic Science' as a career option. Some useful links have been provided for further reading & practice.
